Final Post

My best post in the blog, I think it's "Moulin Rouge"'s post, because it's the one which I worked a lot when I wrote it, because I really love the film. I think it shows my maximum level in English, and I know it isn't much, really, but I really worked hard for it, and I felt very happy when I saw my work. So, that's my best post, because of the content, my favourite film, and because of the language, because right now, this is the best thing I can do, I think.

Well, I suppose every blog has something to be proud of, but if I have to choose my favourite blog in the class, I think I would choose

Valentine's Day

Crossword Puzzle

I haven't learnt anything new, but it's been good for me cause' I have review some words of the term of Valentine.

My world - Another song

This is a song I like because it reminds me about Romy. It's cause' one day when I was going with Romy in a excursion we listened to this song. And now, when we meet, we listen to it sometimes. It also reminds me about my childhood, when my mother was listening to this song (she always liked Phil Collins) in our house.

My world - My mother's food

If I could choose whatever in the world that I would like to eat the rest of my life, I definitly choose my mother's food. I love how she cooks. My favourites dishes are rice with meat in curry sauce and meat with vegetables in cheese sauce. I feel like I'm going to cry everytime I can eat it!

My world - My favourite actor

I suppose you have seen my favourite love story. Now, I will talk about my favourite actor, Ewan McGregor, the main character of Moulin Rouge.

I like Ewan McGregor because he's a good actor. I think he's great because he just does his work (very well) and nothing else. He's not like those actors who are at television all the time or in programs of the heart talking about his problems and things not really important to survive. I've seen just some of his movies, not all of them, but the movies that I've seen were great, he was doing a good job. One of his movies that have impressed me most, is, of course, Moulin Rouge and I love you Phillip Morris. If you watch it in English, it's wonderful how great he interpretates his role! It's not easy to be a writer one day, another one a Pope assistant and then interpretate a homosexual if you're not one of those, I think.
I have seen movies of him since I was five, for the first time when I watched Moulin Rouge on my computer, with my sisters and my mother. I love to remember that day, and I will never forget it.

Some amazing movies of Ewan McGregor that I can recommend are:

- Moulin Rouge
- The Island
- Big Fish
- I love you Phillip Morris
- The Ghost Writer
- Down with love

I especially suggest to watch them in the original language because it's great to listen Ewan's interpretation.

Self evaluation of your oral presentation

When they were young

My principal problem of this presentation was the moment when I got nervous. I was really worried! I think I read too much, maybe...
I could have done better in so many ways. My pronunciation is not the best, and I was moving a lot. If I could give myself a mark, I would put a 6 or a 7.

Love Story

Moulin Rouge

Moulin Rouge is my favourite love story. Since I was 5, I've been watching this film. Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman are the main characters of this film. The story talks about a writer who is in love with love, but he hasn't fallen in love with anybody yet. He goes to live in Paris because he is attracted by the new bohemian movement. There he meets a group of bohemian actors who offer him to write a story. After convincing him and to visit the Moulin Rouge and to talk to Satine, "The Sparkling Diamond", he should surprise her in order to persuade Zidler because Christian, the writer, could write a bohemian story to the first play of "Moulin Rouge's Theatre". They achieve that Christian goes to Satine's room, because she confused Christian with an importan duke that she had to conquer. She tries to make him fall in love with her while Christian is trying to convince her that he is able to be a good writer (he doesn't know that his friends are carrying out a plan). After all that confusion, Satine discovers that Christian isn't the Duke and the Duke himself appears in the room. Christian tries to hide but the Duke finds him and he doesn't believe Satine's lie until Toulouse and the other friends of Christian appear suddenly and pretend that they were rehearsing the play they had planned. The Duke asks for the argument of the play and they improve a play about love. The Duke is satisfied and finally, Christian is the writer and the Duke accepts to build the new theatre in exchange of Satine's favour and the documents of the Moulin Rouge.
After, when the sun goes down and the moon is up, Christian can't stop thinking about Satine. Satine is alone in her "Elephant" (it sounds strange, I know, but it's an elephant building), and Christian goes to meet her. Christian ask her if she's in love with him, like she said when they were alone, when she thought he was the Duke. She just says, she was acting. He goes and begs her one night to stay together. She just says no, because she thinks she can't love anybody, she can only pretend it if she's paid. Christian insists and insists, and finally, Satine realizes she's in love with him and accept to be his lover, but they have to keep it secret because she has to be the propiety of the Duke. The show goes on, the lovers keep their secret and the theatre is in construction. Everything seems to be alright, but... the Duke is jealous. He doesn't like people touching his things. He prepares a dinner for Satine in the Gothic Tower, but Satine doesn't assists many times, because she's spending the time with Christian.
One day, Zidler discovers them and alerts Satine that if she doesn't break with him, the Duke will discover them. That night, Satine couldn't go to the dinner again, but this time she's not with Christian, she's with the doctor. She fainted, and the doctor is checking her. She has tuberculosis and she will die. The Duke threatens to go away, but Zidler achieves to cheat him once more, thinking that she's with Christian again, without knowing her disease yet. When he arrives to the Moulin Rouge and hears about it, he makes Marie promise (the woman who always helps Satine and takes care of her) that she will keep the secret. "The show must go on", he says.
Then, Christian feels for the first time the "cold dagger of jealousy", like he calls it. He doesn't believe Satine when she tells him that she was indisposed and she couldn't meet the night before because of that, he thinks she was with the Duke. Satine talks to Christian and tells him they can't be together anymore, because Zidler has discovered it and the Duke would do so soon, too. Christian convinces Satine to keep being lovers secretly and he promises not to be jealous anymore, writing a song for the play that means that they love each other.
The actors of the play learn the song and sing it well, but Niní, a coworker of Satine, casts a hint to the Duke, telling him Satine's in love with "the writer"/"the sitar player" and then the Duke understands finally. He insists to change the end of the play. Nobody wants what he says, it's too difficult, but Satine calms everyone down and promises she would go to the dinner that night, after the premiere of the play. Christian is jealous. During the night everybody is waiting for the Duke to endore Satine, but Christian can't keep calm. One of his friends talks to him and says that he never had to fall in love with a prostitute: "It always ends badly".
Christian is desperate, and he walks in front of the window of the Gothic Tower, where Satine is with the Duke. Satine sees him and she cannot act anymore: she doesn't love the Duke. The Duke realizes that. He tries to violate Satine, but then Chocolate arrives, a coworker of Satine and saves her. He brings her back to Christian and they promise to fly away from Paris and the Moulin Rouge. The Duke menace Zidler: "If Satine is not mine tomorrow after the show, I will kill Christian. He better gets away from her, or I will kill him."
Zidler goes to see Satine, after she leaves. He tells her about the Duke's menace. She doesn't listen to him. Then Zidler, tells her it's useless, because she will die anyway. "So if you want Christian to die in vain, go with him". Satine's surprised. "To save Christian, hurt him. Tell him you don't love him". "I can't...", says Satine. "You have to do it if you don't want the Duke to kill him", answers Zidler.
Satine does what Zidler told her, because "The show must go on".
Christian is surprised, and when she leaves his house, he's torn. He sells his typewriter the same night of the play, and goes to the Moulin Rouge for the last time. He goes to Satine's dressing room and says: "I have to pay you, you maked me believe you loved me.". She tells him to go away, their separation is destroying her faster. "Why can't I pay you like the others?". She tries to escape, the people working in the backstage try to stop him, but he follows Satine. The Duke's servant notices that Christian is there. He follows him and tries to kill him, but he's not able to do it. Christian and Satine are at the stage door where Satine should have appeared alone. Everyone's stumped. Zidler, who is playing the Maharajah, improves so that nobody notices the misfortune. The public falls into the trap and they believe that Christian is the Sitar player, but with the beard shaved. Christian says: "Thank you for curing me from my ridiculous obsession with love" and throw the money leaving the stage. Satine's crying. Zidler tries to comfort her. "The show must go on". Satine denies with the head. When Christian is about to leave, Satine rises and starts to sing the song of the lovers that Christian composed for their love. Christian turns around and sings with her. The Duke is outraged. He gets up and decides to leave, but he finds a gun and decides to kill Christian. Zidler hits the Duke and the gun flies up in the air. The play ends. Everything seems well... the curtains close. And then... Satine can't breathe. She drops while Christian subjects her. "I'm going to die, Christian. I will die".
"No" says Christian, holding her.
"Christian... you have to continue. Promise me one thing" she whispers "Promise me you will write down our story"
"No"
"Promise that"
Christian cries.
"I feel cold, so cold... hold me please"
Christian hugs her and touches the blood from her lips with his fingers. Then, Satine dies, while the audience is still clapping outside of those curtains.

After days, weeks and months, not a very special day, Christian takes his typewriter (that he recovered) and beginns to write their story as he promised her. "A story about a time, a story about a place, a story about people... but, above all, a story about love. A love that will live forever. THE END"

The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.

I recommend everybody to watch that film some day. I love it! Maybe it's cloying but it's perfect for me. Maybe it's also sad, but for me this is not important, 'cause everytime I see it, Satine is alive again. It's the most beautiful love story in the world. I post also a video with the song of lovers (Come what may). I only could find it with mixed images of the film, because the other videos were strange and with the song remixed... so that's all. Have fun!
